Sage 300 has introduced a feature called Global Search with its latest release of Sage 300 ERP 2019. This feature helps the user to quickly search for the data (transactions) from the company database.

While trying to open the ‘Global Search’ feature from the Sage 300 ERP application, users may encounter an error such as
“A problem occurred and the search could not be performed. Contact your system administrator for help.”
Wondering why this error pops up? Read below to know the reason behind this error in Sage 300, and get there solution.
Why this error in Sage 300 Global search feature?
Whenever Sage 300 application fails to open the ‘Global Search’ popup screen. This means that the ‘GlobalSearchService’ is stopped.
Resolution of Error :
To resolve the above error in Sage 300, one need to follow the below mentioned simple steps:
- In Run command, type “Services.msc” and click on “OK”
2. Search the ‘GlobalSearchService’. If the status indicates “Not Started”, then manually right click and click on “Start“, to start the process.
- Once the Service control Popup gets closed automatically, you will be able to see the status as Started.
- Now as you log in to Sage, users will be able to click on the Global Search button and able to see the below screen.
So, Global Search is very helpful when we have some content that we need to find and doesn’t have knowledge about the presence of the same Sage 300 ERP, it will list all the areas as per the selection and provide direct drill down feature to open the same.
