In this blog, we will discuss how you can use POSTMAN to test our web API’s & detail process to test it.

Before going forward, we assume that you have already configured web API on IIS. Once API configured successfully, browse that API & you will get XML structure of that respective API. (Refer to screenshot)

Once you get above XML structure, you need to pass data into that same & can be used POSTMAN to test your data. Follow the process to for the same.

Send XML requests with the raw data type, then set the Content-Type to text/XML.

  1. After creating a request, use the drop-down to change the request type to POST.

request type to POST

  1. Copy the URL from the browser and Paste into URL Option (we have highlighted URL generation process in IMG 1.2 in Red Color)

  1. Open the Body tab and check the data type for raw.

  1. Open the Content-Type selection box that appears to the right and select either XML (application/xml) or XML (text/xml)

  1. Enter your raw XML data into the input field below (which is highlighted in red color)

  1. Click Send to submit your XML Request to the specified server.

Once you have done with this, click on the send button and entries will get created automatically in Sage 300 through Postman. If you get an error in data, then into the response section you will see error occurred.

The purpose of using POSTMAN is, even though you don’t have 3rd party application ready at your end, you can test APIs with the help of this.
