In our previous blog, Storing unique attributes of vehicle by VIN for automobile industry we had seen how we can store the unique attributes of a specific serial number in its serial optional fields. In the current blog we will see how we can auto insert the optional fields on serial numbers, when the serial number is generated.

New Stuff: Migrate AP Credit Notes (summary) from Sage Business Vision to Sage 300 ERP

Optional fields at the serial number can help to retain the information regarding the approver of the inventory, or the attributes of the inventory

Step 1: Adding optional fields in setup for item

Inventory control –> I/C Setup –> Optional Fields

Add the required optional fields as shown below

Step 2: Adding the optional fields on the item master of the serializable items

Adding the optional at the item level will enable the system to auto insert the optional fields, whenever a new serial number is generated for a specific item.

Now when a purchase is made for the serializable item, then the system would show auto inserted optional fields
